AS Colour’s Little Help Project was inspired by the huge amount of untapped t-shirt design talent that exists in Australia and New Zealand. Back in 2009 we noticed that many of the most talented designers don’t have the means or cash flow to get their designs into print so we came up with a way to give emerging talent a kick start. We didn’t mess around with the prize either, the winning designer gets $10,000 NZD worth of wholesale products and services which is a pretty serious chunk of start-up cash.  The third Little Help Project will be starting later in 2011, sign up to receive updates here.

Wall Poster 350wide Image To promote the Little Help Project here in Auckland we took t-shirt design to the streets of Auckland.  Large format street posters with blank t-shirt templates were pasted up on two locations on Symonds St in the city, students, passersby and aspiring designers were encouraged to add their contributions.Go to the NZ Facebook page to check out the work, we're going to give some prizes to a few of our favourites.

EDDIE ZAMMIT / T-WORLD

Eddie Zammit is the proud owner of well over 2,000 tees and has been researching the origins of T- shirt labels and artwork since he was a teenager. An avid traveller, Eddie is recognised worldwide as an expert T-shirt connoisseur. Eddie writes about T-shirts and the streetwear industry for various design publications and is the go-to expert for all things tee-related.

The logical alchemy of Eddie's talents is as the founder of T-world, the world's only T-shirt journal. It is now distributed in over 30 countries
including Japan, the UK, USA and Canada. As T-world is an independent publication, Eddie's role encompasses everything from managing editor to researcher, but his strength and his passion remains in the art direction of the publication (and getting free T- shirts).
ROB EWAN / MR.VINTAGE

It was around 2004 Mr.Vintage started in New Zealand; partly a patriotic act, partly because we were sick of seeing crappy sheep themed t-shirts everywhere, but mostly because it beat going to Uni and studying management theories all day long. Since then, we’ve been celebrating the culture and nostalgic moments that NZ and Australia has to offer, growing pretty steadily along the way.
